Ukrainian Defence Forces shoot down Russian Su-35 fighter jet in Kursk region

Знищення Су-35 на Курщині

The Ukrainian military downed a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the Kursk region. This was reported by the Air Force on 7 June.

This morning, on 7 June 2025, the aircraft was successfully destroyed.

‘Together to victory!’ the military said.

Ukrainian troops continue to perform tasks in the Kursk region. The defence forces are protecting the borders of the Ukrainian state.

Destruction of Russian aircraft in June

The strikes on Russia on 1 June caused serious damage to the aggressor. The Russian invaders could have lost dozens of aircraft.
A large Ukrainian swarm of drones attacked Russian air bases. On 1 June, massive drone strikes hit the Olenya and Belaya air bases. Explosions were also recorded in the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation.

This successful operation was dubbed ‘Spider’s Web’ and could have caused more than $2 billion in damage. More than 40 Russian aircraft were reportedly damaged, including A-50, Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 bombers.

Ukrainian FPV drones were launched from parked trucks that remained in place for several hours to target Russian strategic air bases.

Such an attack significantly undermines Russia’s reputation as a nuclear power, as strategic aviation is an integral part of the nuclear triad. These consequences have not only an impact on the functioning of Russia’s strategic aviation, but also on the reputation of the aggressor, which will be taken as seriously as it was before in terms of nuclear threats.

As a reminder, Ukraine’s allies are discussing the supply of additional Patriot air defence systems.
