Ukraine prepares new meeting of national security advisers in Kyiv, including Rubio

зустріч радників

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine wants to hold a meeting of national security advisers with the participation of the US, Britain, France and Germany, but no date has been set. The meeting may take place in Kyiv.

He said this at a meeting with journalists on 3 May, according to Suspilne.

The President suggested that the US side would be represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

‘I think that since Secretary of State Rubio will now have the powers of national security adviser, the meeting of advisers will be in this format.

That is, no one will be expecting a new adviser, I think. Yesterday and today, all the advisers of the countries, without Russia, are in contact,’ Zelenskyy said.

The Secretary of State has the powers of a national security adviser.

Zelenskyy also warned heads of state against attending the so-called ‘victory parade’ in Moscow’s World War II.

‘We don’t know what Russia will do that day. It can take various measures, such as fires, explosions, and then blame us,’ Zelenskyy told reporters.

Therefore, Kyiv cannot guarantee the safety of visitors to the event in the Russian capital, Zelensky added. The conversation with him took place yesterday, but its content was only made public today.

Among the foreign guests expected to attend the celebrations in Moscow are Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as the heads of state of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Cuba and Venezuela.
