Traffic blocked on Kyiv-Chop motorway due to blizzard and snowfall

Traffic on the Kyiv-Chop motorway in Zakarpattia and Lviv regions is significantly hampered due to heavy snowfall. Particularly problematic are sections on mountain passes, where poor visibility and slippery roads make travel difficult for all types of transport.

First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshpytskyi reported on Telegram that due to heavy snowfall, traffic restrictions have been temporarily imposed on heavy goods vehicles. Drivers of such vehicles are urged to use special parking areas so as not to cause traffic jams and to allow special equipment to clear the roads.

Passenger cars can still drive, but drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution: reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, and be aware that the road surface is very slippery on ascents and descents. In addition, police patrols and road services are working on the passes to control traffic and assist drivers if necessary.

Forecasters warn that difficult weather conditions will continue for several more days, so drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance and, if possible, refrain from travelling with heavy goods vehicles in these directions.

We remind you that in the centre of Kyiv, rescuers from the State Emergency Service carried out a complex operation to unblock a trolleybus that had fallen into a hole on Sofiyska Street due to weather conditions.
