European Union Avenue in Kyiv
European Union Avenue is located in the Podil district of Kyiv. It runs from Vyshgorodska Street to Gazoprovidna Street. It was built through the previously built-up area in the 1970s.
At the initial stage, it was planned that the avenue would be laid on the territory of the present Mostytska Street.
The development along most of it was changed during the 80s, along with the elimination of many old streets (Vityana, Khvoyna, Zalivna, Sichova, Zustrichna, Novozapadynska, Lukovynna, Malomostytska, and others).
The Retroville shopping center was opened in 2002 on the site of the former gardens of the Pushcha-Vodytsia agricultural company. New residential complexes are also being built in their place. In the location, you can see the Warsaw Microdistrict, Warsaw +, etc.
Since 2018, the construction of the Warshavska metro station at the intersection of the avenue and Mezhova Street has been underway. The opening date of the station has been repeatedly postponed. It is currently planned to open no earlier than 2027.
There are two schools on the territory: No. 3 and No. 242.
Earlier, traffic in Kyiv was restricted due to the visit of foreign delegations.
