Lloyd Austin, the US Secretary of Defence, has arrived in the capital of Ukraine. He confirmed this information on the microblogging service X.

The Pentagon chief stressed that this was the fourth time he had arrived in Ukraine as head of the department. According to him, this demonstrates Washington’s unwavering position on helping our country.

Lloyd Austin – US Secretary of Defence, General. Participated in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He has been the head of the Pentagon since 21 January 2021.

Lloyd Austin was born on 8 August 1953 in Mobile, Alabama. He studied at the United States Military Academy (West Point), graduating in 1975. He completed his military education at the infantry officer training course.

He began his military service in Germany. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and was an infantry platoon commander in a mechanised division. In 1981, he was sent to Indianapolis, where he served as an operational officer in the recruitment department. Later he studied at Auburn University and then was sent to the United States Military Academy at West Point. At this institution, he served as a tactics instructor.

Lloyd Austin continued his studies at the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He continued to serve in various command and staff positions. Austin has made numerous statements about Ukraine. In April 2021, he pledged his ‘readiness to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

He promised ‘that in the event of an escalation of Russian aggression, the United States will not leave Ukraine alone’.
