The musician and member of the Okean Elzy concert team dies

Grisha Chaika, a musician and member of the Okean Elzy band, has passed away. The date of death has not been announced. This was reported on the band’s Facebook page.

The post noted that the musician had been fighting a terrible illness in recent months.

In May, friends and family announced a collection to support him. The Kharkiv pub Kefir posted an appeal on its Facebook page asking people to help the musician.

“Many of you know Grisha, especially the Kharkiv music community. In today’s world, cancer is treatable, but it requires a lot of money and no time to waste,” the post reads.

According to Suspilne, the musician died of blood cancer.

In 2000, Hrysha Chaika founded the band 4Aika. He has worked as a session guitarist and guitar technician for the band Okean Elzy since 2015. The musician was also a member of the bands Sunsay and Kislorod. He also took part in the concert performances and creative processes of many Ukrainian music projects.

In early June, the legendary Ukrainian ballerina Valentyna Kalynovska passed away. She was the first Ukrainian ballerina to be awarded the honorary title of People’s Artist of the USSR.
