    Today, March 2, 2026, stabilization schedules for power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

    This is due to the consequences of recent attacks on the power grid, which forced Ukrenergo to reintroduce consumption restrictions. This was reported by the agency’s press service.

    For residents of the region, DTEK has updated the time intervals for different queues. For some groups, restrictions do not apply today.

    In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, due to the lack of heating in some residential buildings, a decision was made to temporarily relocate residents with limited mobility to boarding houses, where warmth and stable living conditions are provided. This was announced by the head of the Desnianskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, Maksym Bakhmatov, on Facebook.

    This primarily concerns single people who are unable to take care of themselves due to their health condition. The relocation is carried out exclusively with the consent of the citizens. Several people have already agreed to temporarily stay in specialised social protection facilities.

    The first residents have been placed in boarding houses in the capital, where they are provided with the necessary care and support within the framework of emergency social assistance.

    At the same time, work is continuing in the area to restore heat supply. Social services are continuing to visit flats in order to identify people who may need additional assistance in a timely manner.

    We would like to remind you that Mayor Vitali Klitschko has clarified the situation with heating in Kyiv. Teams from other cities and specialists from Ukrzaliznytsia have been brought in to deal with the consequences of the shelling and frost.

    Since this morning, more than 340 residential buildings have been reconnected to the heating system. However, the situation remains difficult: as of 24 January, 1,330 high-rise buildings are still without heating due to enemy attacks on critical infrastructure in the capital. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on his Telegram channel.

    The day before, almost 6,000 buildings in Kyiv were left without heat again. Most of them have faced interruptions before – after heavy shelling on 9 and 20 January, these addresses were connected twice or attempts were made to restore heat supply.

    Utility services and energy companies are working around the clock to restore heat supply to all buildings that are currently without heating as quickly as possible. Work is ongoing, taking into account the complexity of the damage and the technical condition of the networks.

    Not only specialists from the capital are involved in eliminating the consequences – emergency teams from several cities in Ukraine, as well as specialists from Ukrzaliznytsia, have arrived to help Kyiv’s utility workers.

    Since 17 January, a significant part of the capital’s housing stock has been left without heat and with intermittent water supply after a night-time massive enemy attack on critical infrastructure facilities. Klitschko appealed to Kyiv residents to temporarily leave the city, if they had the opportunity, to places where there were alternative sources of power and heating. In his opinion, this step could help people avoid the disadvantages associated with the lack of heat and the need to wait a long time for the infrastructure to be restored.

    Operational headquarters have been set up in the capital, where residents affected by the night shelling can receive the necessary assistance and advice. These centres have been established to support people whose homes, property or safety have been compromised during the enemy attack.

    Vitali Klitschko later again called on Kyiv residents to leave the city if possible. The city has designated warming centres (resilience centres) in each district. If necessary, a large number of people will be able to stay there overnight. The centres will be equipped with places to sleep, heating devices (mobile boilers), food and hygiene products.

    All city services and departments of the Kyiv City State Administration are working 24/7 to ensure the city’s functioning in an emergency situation. Utility workers continue to work around the clock to provide Kyiv residents with the necessary services. Hospitals and social institutions are also operating. The enemy may be preparing a new attack on Kyiv.

    A significant cold snap is expected in the capital, which may affect power outage schedules: according to forecasts, the air temperature will drop below -10 degrees, which under certain conditions may lead to more frequent power outages.

    As the head of the Ukrainian Energy Development League explains, when temperatures remain below -10°C for a long time, the load on the energy system traditionally increases, as domestic consumers use more electricity to heat their homes. This could lead to existing power outage schedules becoming more stringent and including additional rounds of outages.

    The expert notes that low temperatures alone do not pose a critical threat to the energy infrastructure: overhead transmission lines and substations are designed to operate in cold winter conditions. However, active consumption during cold periods traditionally increases the load on the grid, which can complicate the balance between electricity generation and consumption.

    The capital currently has power outage schedules in place to maintain the stability of the energy system in the event of infrastructure damage. The deterioration of weather conditions only adds to the burden on these schedules, as lower temperatures increase the demand for electricity in the morning and evening hours.

    Experts emphasise that in such conditions, it is important to consume electricity wisely, for example, by avoiding turning on powerful appliances at the same time during peak hours or immediately after power is restored. This will help reduce the load on the grid and potentially reduce the duration and frequency of power cuts.

    At the same time, the expert stresses that the key factor in the stability of the power system remains not only the weather, but also attacks on the aggressor’s energy infrastructure. It is these attacks that have a much greater impact on frequent and prolonged power outages in Ukraine.

    On 29 November, Kyiv experienced a massive attack by Russian troops.

    A total of 500,000 city residents were left without power due to the shelling. This was reported by DTEK.

    Due to the enemy attack, residents of parts of the Obolonskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Podilskyi, Holosiivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts of the capital were left without power.

    DTEK energy specialists are already on site to assess the extent of the damage and begin restoring electricity.

    The shelling of Kyiv on 29 November – what are the consequences

    One person was killed as a result of the attack by Russian troops in Kyiv. Seven more Ukrainians were injured, including a child.

    In the Solomyanskyi district, debris fell on a 25-storey residential building, causing a fire. Parked cars were damaged.

    In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a 3-storey residential building was hit. A fire broke out on the second floor, and rescuers saved a child.

    The Shevchenkivskyi district was also attacked. A 14-storey residential building was damaged. Apartments on the 4th and 5th floors were on fire.

    In the Darnytskyi district, rocket debris fell in the courtyard of a nine-storey building. There is a fire on the 6th floor of the building. Emergency services are heading to the scene.

    In the Dniprovskyi district, the Russians hit a 10-storey residential building, causing the destruction of the 6th and 7th floors. Three people were rescued from the 7th floor.

    In the Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts, fires broke out as a result of debris falling on non-residential premises and open areas.
