St Sophia of Kyiv reopens as usual after Russian shelling

The St Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve is operating as usual. The religious and cultural institution resumed its work after a short closure. This was reported on the reserve’s Facebook page.

The damage to the plaster cornice of the central abyss on the eastern facade of St Sophia Cathedral was caused by a powerful blast wave.

  • St Sophia Cathedral from 10:00 to 18:00 (tickets available at the box office until 17:30)
  • Entrance to the territory from 10:00 to 19:00 (tickets available at the box office until 18:30)

Russia’s 10 June strike and damage to St Sophia of Kyiv

On 10 June, Russia launched a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine. Hostile drones simultaneously attacked several districts of Kyiv and settlements in the Kyiv region.

The Russian strike damaged St Sophia Cathedral. The blast wave caused the destruction of the cornice on the main apse of the national monument.

As a reminder, on 1 June, a large Ukrainian swarm of drones attacked Russian air bases. Massive drone attacks struck the Olenya and Belaya air bases. Explosions were also reported in the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation.
