Russia bombed residential buildings for almost five hours – Svyrydenko

As a result of another massive attack by Russian troops on the capital, critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv were hit. In particular, district boiler rooms, which provide the city with heat during the winter, came under fire.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, this time the enemy deliberately targeted heat supply facilities and other important infrastructure on which the stable functioning of the city depends. The strikes were directed at boiler rooms and elements of systems that provide heat, electricity and water supply.

As a result of the shelling, a number of districts in the capital experienced interruptions in the supply of electricity, water and heat. Some residential buildings were temporarily left without heating, which is particularly dangerous in winter frosts. Utility and emergency services immediately began work to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

In addition, damage to residential buildings and civilian facilities was reported. Fires broke out at the sites of the strikes, and rescue workers, medics and law enforcement officers were on the scene. All services are working in an enhanced mode to restore the city’s infrastructure as quickly as possible and provide assistance to those affected.

The government emphasises that such attacks are a deliberate tactic by the aggressor aimed at destabilising the lives of the civilian population, especially during the cold season. At the same time, the authorities assure that the situation is under control and that restoration work is continuing uninterrupted.

Earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said how many buildings remain without heat.
