On 16 May, Russian troops attacked Kyiv and Kyiv region.
Explosions were heard in the capital. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, provided details on his Telegram channel.
He noted that air defence forces were working on enemy UAVs and that people were in shelters.
Later, the Kyiv Metropolitan Administration of Emergency Situations reported that a fire was detected in a non-residential area of the Sviatoshynskyi district. There were also reports of debris falling on the road. Various emergency services arrived at the scene.

Police in Kyiv region are recording the consequences of the enemy’s attack in the region. As of 8:40 a.m., the fall of debris in the Bila Tserkva district damaged an administrative building, a shop, a non-operational cultural centre and an educational institution.
There is no information about the victims.
The police in Kyiv region are urging citizens to be vigilant and take shelter in case of an air raid alert.
As a reminder, the US media reported, citing intelligence data, that Russia is amassing forces to occupy land up to the outskirts of Kyiv.
