Repeated shelling of the railway: where trains are being delayed

On 30 September, Russian troops shelled railway infrastructure. Repeated attacks prevented trains on the Chernihiv route from returning to their normal schedule. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia on Facebook.

Traffic in the Nizhyn direction was provided during the day with the help of reserve diesel locomotives, which increased travel time for trains to and from Chernihiv, Sumy, and Shostka.

Specialists are inspecting the track in the Nizhyn direction. A power outage was recorded in the area.

All trains on the Sumy and Chernihiv routes are running on backup diesel locomotives. The railway warned of possible delays.

Train No. 143 Sumy – Lviv (7+ hours) has a significant deviation from the schedule at the moment. Train No. 144 Lviv – Sumy will also depart late.

Passengers were urged to monitor train movements in the app or on the Ukrzaliznytsia website. The agency apologised for the inconvenience and urged passengers to ensure safe transfers.

As a reminder, Ukrzaliznytsia has received its first battery-powered shunting locomotives. They are capable of speeds of up to 10 km/h and can move freight cars with a total weight of up to 3,000 tonnes.
