Raccoons and bears without shelter: the storm damaged the Kyiv Zoo

Kyiv Zoo suffered from the storm. The alpaca fence, the roof of the raccoon enclosure and three panes of glass at the Bear Continent were damaged, and trees and large branches were broken. This was reported on Facebook.

All animals are safe and sound. At the beginning of the storm, they were quickly moved to winter quarters.

The workers removed some of the fallen branches on their own. Cleaning works are ongoing. Broken branches are not thrown away, as they are used to enrich the environment of animals, as such elements diversify the space and stimulate natural behaviour.

The alpaca fence has already been repaired. The roof of the raccoon enclosure is also being restored, and the glass and fence at the Bear Continent are being repaired.
