Prices for tea and coffee will rise for the first time in six years on long-distance trains. Starting 18 June, Ukrzaliznytsia will index the cost of a number of goods. This was reported by the company’s press service on Facebook.

In particular, the cost of a glass of classic tea will increase from UAH 10 to UAH 20, which, according to market price analysis, will still remain significantly below the average market price.

Instead, this increase will allow the railway to at least cover the operating costs associated with the sale of these products. The price increase will be the first since 2018, while the cost of raw materials, energy, logistics and, indeed, the inflation index (consumer prices) have shown a steady increase throughout the period.

The price revision (up to UAH 20) will also apply to sparkling and still water, instant coffee and 3-in-1 coffee drinks. Meanwhile, prices for all drinks on Intercity+ high-speed trains, as well as for hot lunches as part of a pilot project on long-distance trains, remain unchanged.

Ukrzaliznytsia currently offers 3 types of classic tea, 3 types of speciality tea, capsule and drop coffee, as well as an updated range of snacks. Passengers are also offered a dessert menu on international trains, a special children’s menu by Yevhen Klopotenko in children’s cars, and 4 long-distance trains are testing full lunches: pancakes, pilaf, potatoes with chicken and cheesecakes.

Ukrzaliznytsia continues to keep ticket prices for the social passenger segment unchanged since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

In June, Ukrzaliznytsia launched a new train No. 228/227 Ivano-Frankivsk-Kramatorsk. This will be one of the longest runs.
