The Pereyaslav National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve is one of the largest cultural and historical complexes in Ukraine. It is located in the city of Pereyaslav and plays an important role in preserving the material and spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people.
The reserve covers a large area where hundreds of historical, architectural and archaeological monuments are concentrated. Here, objects from different historical
eras are harmoniously combined – from the most ancient settlements to architectural structures of the late Middle Ages and modern times. The complex includes dozens of museums, whose collections contain unique exhibits: household items, archaeological finds, ancient icons, manuscripts, weapons and examples of folk art.
Archaeological sites constitute a significant part of the heritage. Numerous burial mounds, settlements and cemeteries have been explored on the territory of the reserve, testifying to the continuous life on these lands over the millennia. The finds allow us to trace the development of the Trypillian, Scythian, Old Russian and other cultures that shaped the historical image of the region.

An important area of the reserve’s activity is the preservation of architectural heritage. Among the monuments are religious buildings, educational institutions, residential buildings and public facilities that reflect the peculiarities of Ukrainian urban planning and spiritual life in different centuries. Some of them are associated with prominent figures in Ukrainian history and culture.
Previously, Kyiv residents and visitors to the city learned more about Askold’s Grave.
