Ukraine’s Aviation Day is celebrated on 30 August. On the night of 30 August (from 19:00 on 29 August), the enemy launched a massive strike on Ukrainian territory using strike UAVs, air-based, ground-based and sea-based missiles. This was reported by the Air Force.
In total, during the strike, the Air Force’s radio-technical troops detected and tracked 582 air attack vehicles:
- 537 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of dummy drones;
- 8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 37 air-launched, ground-launched and sea-launched cruise missiles/aircraft missiles: Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, Kh-59.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
According to preliminary data, air defence forces shot down/suppressed 548 air targets:
- 510 enemy Shahed-type UAVs and various types of drone simulators;
- 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 32 X-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, and X-59 cruise/aircraft missiles.
Five missiles and 24 strike UAVs were recorded hitting seven locations, with debris falling at 21 locations.

Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, congratulated pilots, navigators, engineers, communications specialists, combat control officers, and all those who stand guard over Ukrainian skies. He called aviators a reliable pillar in the defence of our state.
‘Thanks to your steely endurance, courage and professionalism, millions of Ukrainians can live, work and build our country,’ the post said.
Aviation Day in Ukraine is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of August. It is a professional holiday for military and civil aviators and employees of the aviation industry and transport.
The holiday was established in Ukraine in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine on Aviation Day dated 16 August 1993.
