October in Kyiv was warm and rainy: the average monthly temperature was +8.6 °C

October 2025 in the Ukrainian capital was marked by moderately warm weather and significant precipitation. According to information from the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the average monthly air temperature in Kyiv was +8.6 °C, which is practically in line with the climatic norm for this month. Experts from the Hydrometeorological Centre emphasise that this October’s figures can be considered typical for the autumn period, with no significant temperature deviations.

The lowest air temperature in the capital was recorded on 22 October, when thermometers dropped to +2.0 °C in the morning. The highest readings were observed on 30 October, when the air warmed up to +15.0 °C. Such a temperature contrast is typical for mid-autumn, when weather conditions gradually change from warm to cold.

Meteorologists note that this year, October was wetter than usual. According to observations at the weather station located on Nauky Avenue, the monthly precipitation was 72 millimetres, which is 157% of the climatic norm. This means that the capital received more than one and a half times the normal amount of rain. Frequent precipitation was accompanied by cloudiness, fog and short-term clearings, which is typical for the end of the autumn season.

Climatologists remind us that over the past decades, the average monthly temperature in October in Kyiv has ranged from +7 to +10 °C, so this year’s figure can be considered typical. However, the increased amount of precipitation indicates certain changes in the distribution of atmospheric fronts and a trend towards a wetter autumn.

October 2025 – what was the weather like in Kyiv

For comparison: in October last year, the average temperature was around +9.2 °C, and there was less precipitation – only about 60% of the norm. Thus, October 2025 was marked not so much by warmth as by increased humidity, which affected the overall feeling of the weather in the city.

According to weather forecasters, a gradual decrease in temperature is expected in November, but no significant frosts are predicted yet. Experts emphasise that this year in Kyiv is generally characterised by stable temperatures – without extreme heat or cold spells, but with certain deviations in precipitation.

Thus, October 2025 in the capital was a typical autumn month with temperatures close to normal, but with a noticeable increase in humidity. These data once again confirm that Kyiv’s climate is gradually becoming milder, and the transition between seasons is smoother and less contrasting than it was a few decades ago.

We will remind you that in September, Ukrainians were surprised by the weather forecast from meteorologists.
