Marta Kostyuk, a tennis player from Kyiv, has won the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk demonstrated outstanding skill by defeating American Jessica Pegula at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid.

At present, Marta is the only Ukrainian player to have reached the round of 16. Her match against world number three Jessica Pegula took place on 26 April and lasted one hour and fourteen minutes. In a confident performance, the Ukrainian defeated her opponent 2-0 (6-1, 6-4).

Kostiuk’s next match will be against another American player, Katie McNally. The WTA tournament in Madrid continues to promise a tense and intriguing contest for tennis fans from around the world.

As a reminder, Kyiv-Basket suffered a defeat against Dnipro in the first match of the Super League final series.
