In Kyiv, a significant part of the capital’s housing stock was left without heat and with intermittent water supply after a massive night-time attack by the enemy on critical infrastructure. In this regard, the mayor of the capital made an important appeal to residents.
As Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko explains, almost half of the apartment buildings – about 6,000 – in various districts of the capital are currently without heat, and there are also interruptions in the water supply. Difficult weather conditions and damage to heating networks are complicating the rapid restoration of services.
Klitschko asked Kyiv residents to temporarily leave the city, if they have the opportunity, to places where there are alternative sources of power and heating. In his opinion, this step could help people avoid the inconveniences associated with the lack of heat and the need to wait a long time for the infrastructure to be restored.
He also noted that utility services are working intensively to restore heat and electricity to residential buildings as quickly as possible, and social institutions such as hospitals and maternity wards are temporarily providing heat using mobile boiler rooms.
According to the mayor, the coming days may be difficult due to weather conditions that are hampering infrastructure restoration. That is why he has once again called on residents to take advantage of the opportunity to move to places with stable sources of heat and power.
The situation in the capital remains tense, and the authorities continue to work to restore normal life for Kyiv residents within the city as soon as possible.
As a reminder, after interruptions, the metro resumed operation on the red line in Kyiv.
