Klitschko: Russia attacked Kyiv with drones and wounded two people

Two people were injured in the Ukrainian capital as a result of a night attack by Russian troops. On 16 June, Russia used drones to attack civilians. The details were reported by the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko on his Telegram channel.

One of the victims was hospitalised. The woman, who was also hospitalised at night, is currently undergoing outpatient treatment.

The police press service reported on Facebook that four private houses, as well as outbuildings, a fence and a vehicle were damaged in the Obukhiv district.

A 60-year-old man was injured in the attack. Doctors provided appropriate assistance.

Investigators, explosives experts, and response teams from the Kyiv Region Patrol Police. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service are also involved.

Shelling of Ukraine on 16 June

Ukrainian troops attacked populated areas on 16 June 2025. On the night of 16 June (from 21.00 on 15 June), the enemy used 138 Shahed-type attack UAVs and imitator drones of various types from different directions.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the main area of attack was Donetsk region. Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled the attack.

Air defence managed to neutralise 125 enemy Shahed UAVs (and other types of drones) in the north, south, east and centre of the country. A total of 84 air targets were shot down, 41 were locally lost/suppressed by electronic warfare.

Enemy air strikes were also recorded in 10 locations, and the crash sites of the downed aircraft (wreckage) were recorded in 8 locations.

As a reminder, the Defence Forces shot down a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the Kursk region. Ukrainian units continue to perform tasks in the Kursk region.
