Klitschko: Russia attacked Kyiv on 4 May, there are wounded

On 4 May, air defence forces were operating in the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that enemy UAVs were entering the Obolon district and urged residents to take cover. He reported the attack on Kyiv on his Telegram channel.

The official explained that there was one call for medical assistance in the Sviatoshynskyi district. The medics provided assistance on the spot.

So far, four residents of the capital have sought medical attention. Three – in Sviatoshynskyi district. One person – in Obolon district. All were treated on the spot.

The State Emergency Service reported that the drone strike caused destruction and fires in three districts of the capital: Obolon, Svyatoshinsky and Shevchenkivsky districts.

In total, seven people were injured in the drone attack, two of whom were children.

The KCMA named the consequences of the Russian attack. The air raid lasted for 01 hrs. 01 min (from 00:20 to 01:21).

As a result of the attack by enemy UAVs and the fall of debris from downed air targets, the following was recorded in the Obolon district
a fire on the upper floors of a multi-storey building with spread to the roof.

• debris falling in the yard of a house.
• 7 cars caught fire in an open area.
• damage to the building of a kindergarten.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, there was a fall of debris and a fire in a non-residential area, and in the Sviatoshynskyi district, three one-storey private houses caught fire.

The attack on Kyiv on 4 May and Zelenskyy’s reaction

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to Russia’s attack on Kyiv on his Telegram channel. He noted that all night long, rescuers in the capital had been extinguishing fires – houses and vehicles – after Russian drones attacked residential areas.

‘Unfortunately, there are children and adults who were injured. Everyone has been provided with the necessary assistance,’ the politician said.

Zelenskyy added that there was also a fire in Cherkasy – an ordinary dormitory was on fire. That night, the Russian invaders also struck Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions with ‘shaheds’. A total of 165 UAVs were seen overnight, most of them Iranian Shaheeds. All morning long, UAVs have been striking Donetsk and Sumy regions.

‘The Russians ask for silence on 9 May, but they are hitting Ukraine every day. This is cynicism of the highest level. This week, Russia has used more than 1,180 attack drones, 1,360 guided bombs and 10 missiles of various types against Ukraine,’ Zelenskyy said.

He stressed the need for a real ceasefire. ‘Ukraine is ready for silence from any day, but for at least a month to end the war. If there is silence, then every day, if there is a ceasefire, then not on their holidays, but every day.
