Innovative method at the molecular level: radionuclide diagnostics department opened at Okhmatdyt

Ukrainians will have access to new medical services.

A radionuclide diagnostics department has been launched at Okhmatdyt. It offers the latest capabilities for functional assessment of organ function and molecular imaging.

The details were reported by the medical institution’s press service.

The new functionality makes it possible to conduct unique studies to assess the functional status of patients. The head of the department, Nikita Nechayev, explained that in addition to being highly effective, radionuclide diagnostics is also safe for children due to minimal radiation exposure. The department provides services to 8-15 patients daily, depending on the methodology, and the demand for procedures remains quite stable.

The hospital team has been trained in the best European medical centres, including Warsaw, Barcelona, Vienna and Hungary. Specialists work exclusively according to European protocols and maintain constant communication with colleagues from other countries.
The opening of the radionuclide diagnostics department was called a step forward in the development of medical care in Ukraine, enabling children to receive safe diagnostics at the European level.

What is radionuclide diagnostics?

Radionuclide diagnostics is an imaging method based on the injection of a radiopharmaceutical that is sensitive to tissues and certain organs into the patient’s body. After injection, the drug accumulates in the target organs, which makes it possible to assess their functional state.

Unlike traditional imaging methods (MRI, ultrasound and CT scan, or X-ray), radionuclide diagnostics provides primarily relevant information on the state of an organ or system, not just a morphological picture.

Earlier, the National Security and Defence Council announced the percentage of people infected with COVID-19 in Ukraine.
