In the direction of Vyshgorod, State Emergency Service specialists eliminated the consequences of icy roads and traffic accidents

On Wednesday, 7 January 2026, a major traffic accident involving 13 cars occurred in Kyiv, causing serious traffic complications on Dniprovodska Street in the direction of Vyshgorod. Fortunately, there have been no reports of serious injuries at this time.

According to the Kyiv Patrol Police, a detour has been organised on the opposite lane at the accident site. Drivers are urged to take this information into account when planning their route to avoid traffic jams and additional risks.

The accident was caused by difficult weather conditions and icy roads, forcing drivers to slow down and maintain a safe distance. The police also emphasised the need to avoid risky manoeuvres and, if possible, not to drive cars with summer tyres, but to use public transport during snowfall.

Active anti-icing treatment of roads, pavements and adjacent areas is continuing in the city. According to Kyivavtodor, 289 units of special equipment have been deployed to clear highways, bridges, descents and ascents. A total of 487 workers in 67 teams are manually clearing pavements, bus stops and pedestrian crossings. More than 2,800 utility company employees and around 50 pieces of equipment are involved in clearing areas around residential buildings, while 719 workers and 30 pieces of equipment are working in parks and squares.

Forecasters predict cloudy weather, moderate wet snow, fog and black ice. Daytime and night-time temperatures will range from 0 to -2°C, with a yellow danger level.

Similar dangerous situations on the roads are also occurring in other regions of Ukraine: for example, on 28 December, in the Kalush district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, a bus skidded off a snow-covered road into a ditch, injuring 13 people, including two children. Also, recently, in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, there was a fatal accident involving a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier, in which a young woman was killed and two children were hospitalised.
