In Kyiv, supporters of Russia organised an underground school in a monastery

In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers have launched a pre-trial investigation into the activities of an illegal educational institution allegedly operating on the territory of one of the monasteries.

According to law enforcement officers and representatives of the prosecutor’s office, investigators are establishing the circumstances surrounding the creation and operation of this underground school. In particular, they are checking whether its pupils attended state educational institutions, where they should have been studying officially, and are also investigating the sources of funding for the institution’s activities and the legality of its existence.

The investigation was initiated by journalistic reports that a school was operating at the Holosiivska Pustyn monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, where children were taught using outdated textbooks, shown films and given content that may contradict current educational standards.

Law enforcement officials specify that all established facts will be legally assessed in accordance with the requirements of criminal law, and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
