‘I am speaking honestly’: Klitschko again called on Kyiv residents to leave the city if possible

Kyiv is going through an extremely difficult period in January due to the energy crisis.

The situation is extremely complicated, and this may not be the most difficult moment yet. It is worth stocking up on food, water, and necessary medicines. Those who have the option of leaving the city for places with alternative sources of food and heat should not dismiss it. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel.

The city has designated heating (resilience) centres in each district. If necessary, a large number of people will be able to stay there overnight. The centres will be equipped with places to sleep, heating devices (mobile boilers), food and hygiene products.

“I am addressing the residents and speaking honestly: the situation is extremely difficult, and this may not be the most difficult moment yet. Stock up on food, water and necessary medicines. Those who still have the option to leave the city, where there are alternative sources of food and heat, should not dismiss it,” Klitschko said.

All city services and departments of the Kyiv City State Administration are working 24/7 to ensure the city’s functioning in an emergency situation. Utility workers continue to work around the clock to provide Kyiv residents with the necessary services. Hospitals and social institutions are also operating. The enemy may be preparing a new attack on Kyiv.

We remind you that a significant part of the capital’s housing stock has been left without heat and with intermittent water supply after a massive night-time attack by the enemy on critical infrastructure. In this regard, the mayor of the capital has made an important appeal to residents.
