Today, 18 June, would have been the 90th birthday of Ukrainian writer and poet Ivan Nechytailo. Many fans of Ukrainian literature remember him for his books and poems.

Biography

Ivan Nechytailo was born on 18 June 1935 in Poltava region. The author, known in the literary world primarily for his lyrical prose, depicted the life of a Ukrainian village, the beauty of his native land, and human dignity.

Nechytailo worked in literature since the 1960s. He was a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine. He left behind dozens of books that were published over several decades.

He studied at Kyiv University and graduated in 1965. He also studied at the Higher Party School.

For a significant part of his creative life, he worked in the press, in particular in Myrhorod, Velyka Bahachka, Reshetylivka, and in Shyshaky as the editor-in-chief of the district newspaper.

Creativity

Ivan Nechytailo is remembered for many of his literary works. He started writing quite early, but his first book, The Hard Furrows, was published when he was 50 years old. The author said that in this book, “my stories were made into student retellings, and my novels into short stories.
