He approached, shot, and drove away: the media learned details of the murder of former Verkhovna Rada speaker Parubiy

The attacker who shot former Verkhovna Rada chairman Andriy Parubiy was dressed as a delivery service courier. He used an electric bicycle. This was reported by Suspilne, citing sources.

The alleged killer used clothing to look like a delivery service courier.

‘He approached, fired and rode away,’ the report said.

According to “РБК-Україна”, Andriy Parubiy died before the arrival of medical personnel. Law enforcement officers found seven shell casings at the scene.

As noted by the National Police, law enforcement officers are taking all measures to establish the identity of the shooter and his whereabouts. Operational search measures are being carried out. A special operation called ‘Siren’ has been announced in Lviv.

Today, 30 August, Andriy Parubiy, a well-known politician and former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was shot dead in Lviv on Akademika Yefremova Street, 46. The victim died on the spot as a result of his injuries.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received a report from Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko regarding the circumstances of the horrific murder in Lviv.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that the most important thing is for law enforcement agencies to find the killer and establish all the circumstances. This is a matter of security in a country at war, where, as we can see, there are no completely safe places.

Andriy Parubiy began his political career in Lviv, serving as a member of the city and regional councils. He was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity, serving as the de facto commander and head of the Euromaidan tent camp and leader of the Maidan Self-Defence Forces.

In early 2014, Parubiy was appointed secretary of the National Security and Defence Council. In April 2016, he became the head of parliament.

In the 2019 elections, he was elected a member of parliament of the 9th convocation from the European Solidarity party.
