Environmentalist Volodymyr Boreyko was killed in a crash near Kyiv

Vladimir Boreiko, a well-known environmentalist, has died in a road accident near Kyiv. His wife, Olga Musafirova, announced this on Facebook.

The scientist sustained fatal injuries in the accident. She also noted that the family would announce details regarding the time and place of the funeral at a later date, whilst asking friends and acquaintances not to call her at this time.

Volodymyr Boreiko’s life and professional career were inextricably linked to the fight for nature. He served as director of the ‘Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Centre’ and as editor-in-chief of the ‘Humanitarian and Ecological Journal’, which has been published since 1999. Volodymyr Boreiko is the author of over 200 books on ecology, animal welfare, eco-philosophy and history, and is a distinguished conservationist of Ukraine. His contribution to the development of the conservation movement will remain unforgettable for many generations.
