Recently, brown briquettes against rabies were laid out on the territory of Sviatoshyno forest.
These are baits for wild animals with the vaccine, and they should not be picked up, touched or moved. A total of 3200 doses were scattered. Details are provided by the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Kyiv.
The fight against rabies among wild animals continues in the capital. Experts have carried out routine oral vaccination of wild carnivores as part of the state rabies prevention programme. To protect animals and humans from rabies, edible vaccine baits – small brown briquettes the size of a matchbox – are laid out in nature. They have the smell of meat and bone meal, which attracts wild carnivores (in particular, foxes).
Inside the briquette is a capsule with a vaccine.
- Venue: the territory of Sviatoshyno Forestry and Parks
- Area under treatment: 128 km²
- Number of vaccine doses distributed: 3200
The purpose of the event is to prevent the spread of a deadly disease among both animals and humans. Vaccine baits do not pose a danger to humans or animals.

Important for park visitors:
- Do not touch the vaccine briquettes
- Do not move them if you find them by accident
This will help to effectively immunise wild animals and reduce the risk of rabies spread.
As a reminder, incredible pink phoenixes have returned to Kyiv.
