In Kyiv, Svobody Avenue, an important transport artery in the Podilskyi district, will undergo major renovations
A large-scale renovation of Svobody Avenue, which runs through the Vinogradar residential area in the Podilskyi district, is beginning in the capital. This project is of great importance for the development of Kyiv’s road infrastructure, as the avenue is one of the main thoroughfares connecting the district with other parts of the city.
The renovation will cover the section from European Union Avenue to Vasyl Poryk Avenue. The total cost of the work is estimated at approximately 467 million hryvnias. The avenue was built in 1975 and has not undergone a complete renovation since then, so its restoration has become one of the priorities of the capital’s road services for 2025.
During the reconstruction, it is planned not only to replace the road surface, but also to completely modernise the infrastructure in accordance with modern standards. In particular, barrier-free access will be provided for people with reduced mobility, bicycle lanes will be built, kerbs will be lowered, tactile tiles will be installed at pedestrian crossings, and worn-out engineering communications will be updated.
Kyivavtodor notes that the modernisation of Svobody Avenue is extremely necessary, as this thoroughfare carries a large amount of traffic every day and is important for thousands of residents of the district. Once the work is complete, the avenue will become more comfortable, safer and more modern for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike. The renovated road is expected to significantly improve transport links and create a more convenient urban environment for all Kyiv residents.
As a reminder, speed limits were introduced in Kyiv on 1 November.
