Яке свято 29 березня

Today, 29 March, is a different day for many Ukrainians. In the article by Kyiv-Online, you can find out about the church holiday in Ukraine, folk signs and what not to do on this day.

What is the church holiday on 29 March?

The Day of Remembrance of the Holy Martyrs Mark and Cyril is celebrated by the Orthodox on 29 March. As you know, St Mark preached Christianity and was a priest. Emperor Diocletian, who led the Roman Empire at the time, organised mass persecution of Christians. Mark was arrested and later tortured because he did not want to renounce his faith. There is no exact confirmation of the date of his death.

Believers turn to St Mark for support and help in difficult moments of life. People pray for physical and spiritual strength, for protection and intercession, as well as strengthening of faith and protection from all evil, both known and unknown.

We also know that Cyril was most likely a deacon or priest. He also suffered because he was a Christian. Because he refused to worship pagan gods, he was tortured.
