Cogeneration plants allow for efficient use of resources.
Cogeneration units are being installed in the Kyiv region to ensure stable energy supply and the corresponding development of distributed generation. This was reported by the Kyiv MVA.
Such technologies will strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence, which is especially important in the face of constant shelling by Russian troops. One of these plants has a capacity of 1.5 MW of electricity and 1.8 MW of heat, as well as a 2.5 MW steam turbine. These capacities will allow us to provide heat to more than 100 apartment buildings, dormitories and 24 budgetary institutions.
There are 11 cogeneration units in the Kyiv region with a total capacity of over 23 MW. This equipment has been in operation for several years. It has proven its efficiency. In the near future, several more new units will be launched in some communities of the Kyiv region.
We have identified 89 potential locations for cogeneration in the region. Memoranda have been signed to install cogeneration units with a capacity of about 80 MW at 33 locations. They will be located in 11 communities of the region.
In the Buchanska community, officials have already identified 16 locations for plants with a capacity of about 20 MW, which are being considered by investors. Relevant work is also underway to attract investors for the successful implementation of cogeneration projects in other locations.
Cogeneration plants make it possible to use resources efficiently, reduce dependence on central grids and produce electricity and heat simultaneously. This solution is a step towards an energy-independent and sustainable future for our communities.
Earlier, Brovary district announced where there will be no electricity supply.
